Terms of use
Last updated October 2026
If any of this is unclear or seems unfair, say so and we will fix the wording. Terms nobody reads protect nobody.
1. Who we are
Rivet Music is a music storefront and streaming service operated by Ice House Tech. Using the site means accepting these terms.
2. Your music stays yours
We claim no ownership of anything you upload. You keep every right you had before you put it here.
You give us permission to store your music, convert it to streaming formats, show it on the site, and sell it to listeners on your behalf. That permission is non-exclusive — you can sell and distribute the same music anywhere else, at the same time, with no penalty here. It ends when you remove the music or close your account.
3. What you are promising when you upload
Every upload asks you to confirm that the recording is yours to put up. That means you wrote it, own it, or have permission from whoever does — including for any samples, interpolations or features.
We record that confirmation with a timestamp. If a rights claim arrives, that record is what we work from, and music subject to a valid claim comes down.
4. Money
- On a sale you keep 90% of what the buyer pays after card processing. Card processing is the card network's fee, not ours — we never see it.
- On streaming you keep 75%. A subscriber's fee is divided only between the artists that subscriber actually played, weighted by play count — never pooled across the whole platform.
- Sale money goes into your own Stripe account at the moment of purchase. We do not hold it.
- Payouts reach your bank once your balance clears $50.00. Below that it rolls forward and is never swept or expired.
- Baskets start at $3.00. Card fees are charged per order rather than per track, so small orders lose a disproportionate amount to processing.
- If we ever change these shares, the change applies to artists who join after it. Your rate is recorded on your account the day you join and does not move.
5. Refunds and chargebacks
Buyers can be refunded for a faulty or misdescribed file. Because your share is paid to you at the moment of sale, a refund or a bank chargeback is taken back out of your balance, and we will tell you when that happens rather than letting you find a gap.
6. Copyright claims
If you believe something here infringes your copyright, write to hello@rivetmusic.com with enough detail to identify the work and where it appears. We remove material subject to a valid claim, tell the artist who uploaded it, and give them a chance to respond.
Accounts that repeatedly upload other people's work are closed.
7. What is not allowed
- Uploading music you do not have the rights to.
- Inflating your own play counts, by any means. Streams are verified and we can tell.
- Mislabelling explicit material as clean.
- Using the site to harass anyone.
8. Your account and your data
You can close your account whenever you like and take your music with you. Anything you have already earned is still paid out. Buyers keep the files they bought — a purchase is permanent, and a download link does not stop working because an artist left.
Your page link is permanent once you choose it, because it ends up on flyers, in bios and on physical things we cannot edit. Contact us if yours is genuinely wrong.
9. Where this is still rough
This is a new and small platform, and parts of it are unfinished. We would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If something breaks and it costs you money, tell us and we will make it right.
These terms are a working draft written for clarity. They have not been reviewed by a lawyer, and they are not legal advice. If you are relying on them for anything that matters, have a solicitor read them first.
